Elyse Grossman
I’ve always been physically active and was looking for something both challenging and grounding which is how I found my way into my first yoga class in Santa Cruz in 1995. I developed my personal study of yoga in San Francisco and Oakland and completed my first teacher training in 2014.
Yoga ignited the essence of my spiritual life, allowing me to be, to experience stillness, stability, and strength. In such a busy world yoga is my sanctuary, reminding me to show up to the present moment, raw and real.
I hope to create a class atmosphere where my students can explore new challenges safely while promoting an experience on the mat that challenges the body, quiets the mind, awakens the heart, and inspires the soul.
One of my favorite things about being a teacher is that it requires me to continually and simultaneously be a student and make valuable and meaningful connections. I am fortunate to have taught English for more than 20 years and currently teach English and Yoga at Santa Barbara Middle School. When I am not on my yoga mat, you can find me hiking or running trails or the beaches, reading, or spending time with my dog Rilke, 14 year old son, beloved family and friends.
