Al Silva

Al Silva began practicing yoga at Yoga Soup during the early stages of his PhD work in religious studies at UCSB. Al abides by the understanding that yoga is a practice of self-inquiry, one that brings together the physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual realms of humanity. His classes involve a combination of breathwork, visualization, core stability exercises, alignment based yoga postures/sequences and resistance stretching, all done at a slow but strong and steady pace, and to a good soundtrack. Al is a 200 hr certified yoga instructor through the YogaWorks foundation, and continues to train in the resistance flexibility and strength training programs at The Genius of Flexibility.
