I was born in Scotland in a spiritual community called Findhorn, from a family of healers and mystics. That foundation began my early spiritual inquiry. Growing up in Northern California and Maui, I was introduced to yoga at 12 years old, both philosophically and through asana/pranayama. In 1994, at the age of 20, I started leading yoga classes in L.A. while also being a professional actress and singer/songwriter. Yoga became my biggest passion and I dedicated myself to learning from many exquisite teachers over the years…including Eric Schiffman, Shiva Rea, Lisa Walford, John Friend, Judith Lasater, Jasmine Lieb, Angela Farmer, Guru Singh…to name some.
After a severe car accident that forced me to change how I moved and taught, I kept diving deeper into east/west healing traditions, gaining certificates and degrees in Yoga Therapy, Integrative Body Psychotherapy, East West Medicine, Acupuncture, and Nutrition, with continued studies in meditation and vocal yoga.
For over a decade, I created and ran Yoga and the Healing Sciences Training Programs for Loyola Marymount University Center for Spirituality, and I co-wrote the best-selling yoga therapy medical textbook, Yoga Therapy and Integrative Medicine: Where Ancient Science Meets Modern Medicine.
When I’m not with my private clients sharing east/west medicine and acupuncture in town, sharing yoga continues to be one of my favorite ways to connect to community. You can find out more about me and my Integrative Medicine Practice here.
